              :: idioms in other words |     |  |

      | | Hi again to everybody! I have another idea or practising English:Yahoo!:
 One person gives a sentence with an idiom, whereas others are trying to put it into normal words. You may also try and replace one idiom with another. This task can be a real challenge

 So the first one is coming:

 You can't have your cake and eat it.

 Hmm? How to say the same n other words

      | | Hi again Mecruh! How are things going? Smoothly I hope
 So thr sense of that proverb is that very often we have to make a choice and choose between things, to decide what is more important for.

 Have you ever had to make such a choice?

 Наверно можно так сказать:
 If you ate your cake already you can't eat it again.

 Похоже на высказывание какого-то философа, что дважды в одну реку не войдешь.

      |  | Beating a dead horse
 If someone is trying to convince people to do or feel something without any hope of succeeding, they're beating a dead horse. This is used when someone is trying to raise interest in an issue that no-one supports anymore; beating a dead horse will not make it do any more work.
